Lilacs and Life...

I love lilacs. The smell brings back countless childhood memories. When we lived in Wilmington, NY- home of Whiteface Mountain (the 1980 Winter Olympic Mountain, people) and the AuSable River- we had wonderful lilacs.

You can almost smell them. My friend, Michele took these pictures. She's a professional photographer.

Isn't it almost romantic? You look at a picture like that- the stone fireplace, the arching lilac trees bursting with flowers- and you almost sigh. Well, at least I do. But, again, I love lilacs. I could look at a picture like that and think our time in NY must have been full of such ideal moments. But, then, Michele backed up to capture realty.

Realty includes: two propane tanks, a tricycle, abandoned potty chair and two empty beer bottles. Realty isn't quite as romantic, is it?

Are these pics taken up here? I'm still seeing snow. I have snow at my house up to my waist! (that's 3 feet!!) Well, that was Monday - hopefully less by now.

*SIGH* I love lilacs too. So beautiful. So lovely. And, as with you, so many memories of childhood. You are right, very romantic...until we got to the potty chair.

What happened to your WFMW?

I'm sorry, potty chairs or not, those pictures make me very, very homesick for New York. When our lilacs bloom, all the flowers are blown off by the prairie wind in about a day. And Kansas is so brown, brown, brown. Even when it's green...it's brown.
Sigh...

I love the way lilacs look. That is, when I look at them through a window, with my allergy medicine at the ready in case there's a crack in the seal anywhere. (Gee I am almost sneezing now just thinking about it!)
So, no. I guess, reality isn't quite so romantic... But I really do think these pics *are* lovely with all of nature's purple!

There's nothing like that growing around here right now. And regarding the beer bottles: you have to look hard just to notice them. Anyway, I have to admit that beer is my favorite beverage after all... :P
