Brace Yourselves.

Have you met Shea? He's the oldest of the Gettysburg Family children. You know- the one that completely rocked my world- and Rich's- way back when.

Lately, his hair has become a bit of an issue for me. Oh, I'm cool with the long hair. If you've seen any of Rich and my wedding pictures, you know that. But the dead ends? The giant ass perma-snarl on the back of his head? The- excuse me for what I'm about to say- dandruff under the perma-snarl? Ew. Gross. Yuck. Oh my flipping word, I can't take it.

Greeley just saw I was taking a picture of Shea, and couldn't stand to not be included. If you've read so much as one post in the last three years, I imagine you know Greeley. Anywho, can you see the snarl on the back of his head? The ends dampened with saliva because he chews on his hair. I know. I know.

Atlee saw Greeley getting her picture taken with Shea and jumped in the mix too.

Emerson didn't care what we were doing. He was chewing on his toy bar. Not its intended use, but whatever, he was happy.

Now then, where were we? Oh the hair. We've been asking (nagging?) Shea to do something about it for quite a while now. He wanted to wait until the school year was over. He doesn't like to stand out in a crowd and thought any sort of alteration to his appearance would draw attention. I know! It is hard to believe he's Rich's son.

We probably should have stopped somewhere around here. Then I would have had a happy child. But we didn't.

This was his look of horror at how short it was.

This was his true look of horror when he saw the picture on the camera. Can you see how misty his eyes truly are here? The rest of the evening proceeded with him draped in a blanket- muttering about what a freak he looked like.

While I think it looks much nicer- and will be cooler this summer- he is requesting all readers send him brown paper bags with which to hide his monstrous new look.

I told you people to brace yourselves. You never listen to me.

Wow, photos of shea, how special. We get so few of that beautiful, camera shy boy.

From no pictures to pictures of such... intimacy. What a change. But, ah, did ya hafta shear him?

Uncle John would, of course, approve, as Shae's new hair style is his favorite summer style.

Enjoy the heat!

I got the name wrong twice --

I'm a stereotyper, so this may not be true for everyone, but it's amazing how much of someone's personality can be tied up in their look. Like: the "semi-short" haircut made him look like a student at an elite prep school, just out of his shirt and tie for the weekend. A classmade of Harry Potter's, perhaps.

The "SHORT" short hair makes him look like a concentration camp resident (which, if he keeps staying indoors and not eating, people will start thinking) or some kid from the 50s (Stand By Me, anyone?).

Today's code word is: bines

The 50's were a great time. Boys were boys. I think he looks great.

Malcolm said "AHHHHH!" then, "It looks good!"

I agree.

I have to tell you--I LOVE the buzz! His blue eyes stand out. Plus, I'm just a fan or short hair on guys. Can't help it. :)

OMG!! We just TRIMMED Justin's hair, girl. TRIMMED. Like, an inch to get rid of the ends.

You're such a brute. Good thing his head is nicely shaped.

Haven'ed shaved heads been very much in for a couple of years already? And Shea is looking most handsome and stylish this way, too. But my admiration goes to the barber: wow, that was courageous!

he looks so much older!

Wow, he looks great! More grown up. And you can actually see his face. I'm a fan!

Tell him it could have been much worse. When I was 11, my Mum took me in for a trim, and went shopping. When she came back, my hair had been cropped to all but an inch and a half long, and the hair dresser was SPIKING IT.

I AM A GIRL.

Hi, Mom. I remember when "Dad" got his hair cut even shorter than Shea's so his parents could not grab him by his hair as he escaped out of the house.

@ No Name- Oh the mystery! Who are you?! In any case, I was a bit nervous when we first moved to Gettysburg, because EVERY ONE kept telling me stories of Rich taking off and running away. Different people with different stories made me worried he was going to do some sort of mid-life bolt. :D

did not mean for that to be an "anonymous" compliment.....just hit the wrong button while stunned at how good looking shea is!

I actually really liked his hair in the picture before the full buzz. Suave. He looks much handsomer either way.
