Easter Traditions

Why hello there. It's me. Do you remember me? I know, I know. I said I'd visit more often, and I haven't. But, I've been busy. No. no, no. It's not just an excuse. For example, this past Saturday we had a little get together for dinner with friends. We all had a wonderful time. I was saying good night to my husband, who was off to bed, and heading downstairs with a wide awake Greeley when it occurred to me... I still had Easter baskets to deal with. It was 10:00 at night, Greeley was wide awake and I hadn't even dug the baskets out of storage.

I would guess Greeley fell asleep somewhere around midnight (curse that long afternoon nap that I thought was a good thing at the time because it allowed me to get the dinner for everybody ready). So, around 1:00 AM I was hiding plastic Easter eggs all over the house. I was pretty grumbly and thinking this was a crummy tradition to have ever started, and would the kids even notice if I didn't do it, and blah blah blah. Whine some more, whine some more.

The next morning, I woke up feeling somebody staring at me. I rolled over and saw Shea, just staring. "I've been waiting for someone to wake up!" "OK, you can wake up Atlee, but let Greeley sleep," I muttered. Fortunately, I was sleeping in Greeley's bed so I got to hear the following exchange.

Shea: "Atlee!It's Easter."
Atlee: "Alright! We get to eat our chocolate Easter bunnies!"
Shea: "And don't forget the egg hunt!"
Atlee: "I love the egg hunt!"

They would have noticed.

Did you happen to notice the giant chocolate rabbit the size of Greeley's head up there? My parents send them every year to the kids. They purchase them from their local Lions' Club. Your local Lions might sell them too, if you're interested for next year.

Good Lord, that IS a large chocolate bunny. No wonder she's laying down. :)

I was also thinking it had the earmarks of crime scene, what with the smears of chocolate on her hand.

Talk about chocolate high! I hid the crappy plastic eggs for my wee one. Each of them had chocolate in them. Wonderful daddy taught him to open the eggs with his hammer! So I hear "hamer - *smash*". He was collecting his sweets in his basket until he figured out he could eat the sweets. He had 3 in 10 minutes and was standing in the kitchen doing a hula-dance sans hula and whining. Tooooo much chocolate for him!

He hasn't had his chocolate bunny, yet. It may get melted down for someother use.

Is that a 3 lb bunny??

A wonderful story. I do love your blog, Susan.

Oh, and it reminded me to send a thank you note for the big Lion's Club bunny we, too, got. Big and delicious!

I thought that was a stuffed teddy bear! I noticed the ears are bitten off - aren't hey always the first part of a chocolate Easter rabbit to go?!

This year I didn't do a gosh darn thing for Easter as I worked. I didn't even do baskets - and my three didn't even notice! Huh?
