Gettysburg Family Prepares to Hit the Road.

The Summer Vacation season is upon us. We're kicking things off this weekend with a trip to Cape May, NJ. Atlee heard there's an ocean there, so she's pretty excited. Last night, my dad called us to point out that while we were going to be in Cape May this weekend, he and my mom were going to be in Atlantic City. At first I was all honored like when he said we should meet up. Then I realized it wasn't me, it was the grand kids they wanted to see.

This morning, I was telling Greeley that we were going to get to see Grandma this weekend. She started bouncing and hopping and saying, "Grandma! Grandma!" Hoping to point out that it wasn't just Grandma, but also Grandpa, I asked, "Hey, Greeley, who does Grandma hang out with? Who travels with Grandma? " Greeley said, "Um.... Cady the dog?" Maybe we can talk Grandpa into barking some.

Memorial Day Weekend = Open Pool

When the Gettysburg Country Club went broke, we weren't sure what we were going to do for a pool this summer. Bwahahahahahaha- like we've ever belonged to a Country Club. You didn't even believe that for a moment, did you?

Well, we did receive a wonderful invitation from our neighbors across the street this morning. They were opening their pool today, and the girls were welcome to come on over. We grabbed their swimsuits and headed across the street.

Before they could hit the pool, they had to help with a little maintenance- like filling the pool.

The club house, er, neighbors served up a yummy al fresco lunch of pizza, fries and watermelon.

After several hours of splashing and frolicking, they helped empty the pool and water our neighbor's flowers.

And then? When the rest of the water was emptied out, it formed a puddle. That's just about a perfect day for Atlee and Greeley.

We hope you have a great holiday weekend and have the chance to get out and splash in a mud puddle!

Proof...

...that I'm not just getting fat from sitting around and eating bonbons.

The Puddle on the Couch.

Greeley and I were chilling on the couch this morning. She woke up in her usual cranky state and wanted to nurse. Since I've weaned her from the overnights, she's very concerned with whether the sun is up or down. "Sun up?" means she can nurse. Anywho, after her morning nursing we were just hanging out and cuddling. I kissed her on the forehead and said, "I love you Greeley." She kissed me back and said, "Love you mama." That puddle on the couch? Totally my heart.

Gettysburg Mom Dishes.

So, perhaps you've noticed my lack of posting in recent months? Perhaps you've wondered what the hell is up with that? I thought I would have an awesome video today to help explain what's been going on, but I botched it. So, instead I'll just say that come November, we'll be mighty thankful we purchased the minivan that holds four car seats instead of three.

I'm Not Dead Yet.

The cold of all colds recently crushed me. Perhaps it was a flu? I've always been kind of iffy on the difference there. Anywho, suffice it to say, the last week has sucked. Fortunately, my wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful husband picked up my slack completely. He took care of the kids. He did the shopping. He made the meals. He still managed to fit some work in there. My kitchen counters have never been so clean. He's totally kicked my ass at being a housewife this week. Perhaps I really do need to step up my game a tad?

Granted, dinner on Tuesday evening was french fries. He made them from potatoes and brought out the deep fryer. I don't have any proof but I'm thinking he was secretly happy I was too weak to protest the use of the deep fryer. I asked Shea what Daddy had made for dinner that night.

"French fries." "But did he serve anything with them?" "Oh yeah. Ketchup and mayonnaise."
